"While visiting a colonial historical village one day during their "Colonial Days Weekend", we enjoyed the period presentations of people encouraging us to step back in time to the life, work, cooking chores, and homesteading of the 1800 year village scene. One area captured my interest when I came upon a brightly colored quilt airing on an old wooden drying rack near one of the homes. I could picture the moment back in the day of perhaps this women's "wash day" being Monday and spending all day to make all the clothes and linens for her family clean and fresh-air dried. I imagined while the quilt was on the rack outside, drying, a Carolina Wren stopping for an instant to perch on it before continuing to her nest in the shed to care for her own family."
