"One late December afternoon while driving home, I happened upon this wonderful scene of a resting great blue heron. The snow was rosy and the grasses golden. It was beautiful and needed no improvements. I pulled over to sketch and record. I painted this most elegant and regal of birds just as I saw it, and it has become one of my most popular prints."
