"My painting story for "Heritage" was to show a young four point or"Y" buck in a scene that also included a shed antler of considerable size from a recent previous winter, and one that was shed by a larger older buck. The heritage of this young deer could be to acquire this impressive rack in his later years. Perhaps shed even by his own father-- the cycle of life. Or is he just glancing at it in a curious way? It gives the viewer a chance to complete the story thereby involving him or her in the painting."
