"While driving one day through a state forest, we passed "Ghost Lake", and up ahead on the edge of the lake on a muskrat house was this scene as I painted it. The wood duck drake stood beside his chosen mate as she groomed in the morning sun. The only addition needed to make this painting complete was the mist rising off the waters of the lake-- vapors of good spirits perhaps."
